John Paul Listowski is a dedicated public servant with deep roots on Galveston Island. Born and raised here, he attended O’Connell High School before earning a degree in Construction Science from Texas A&M University. After college he returned home, drawn back by the water and a desire to give back to the island that shaped him.

In 2004 John Paul co‑founded HomeLife Builders, a custom home‑building company specializing in high‑quality construction. As a small business owner, he understands firsthand the challenges local entrepreneurs face and the importance of responsible development. His work in construction also gave him insight into housing affordability and sustainable growth.
Before running for office, John Paul volunteered on numerous city boards and commissions, where he built a reputation for practical governance and community engagement. His roles include:

Family & Roots
John Paul’s love for Galveston is deeply personal. He and his wife Kara are raising their daughter and son on the island, giving them a parent’s perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing local families.
He understands what it’s like to prepare for storms, navigate rising costs, and find safe places for children to play. These experiences ground his commitment to making Galveston safe, prosperous and welcoming for everyone.
