Public Safety

Keeping Galveston Safe, Together

Why It Matters

Every parent deserves to know their kids can walk to school or play outside without fear.

Every business owner deserves to open their doors each morning with confidence.

And every first responder — from firefighters to police officers to EMTs — deserves to know their city has their back.

Safety isn’t just another issue — it’s the foundation of everything else we want to build as a community.

Without it, families move away, businesses struggle, and neighborhoods lose their sense of belonging.

With it, everything becomes possible.

“Safe streets are the foundation for everything else — strong schools, thriving businesses, and families who want to stay here.”

Where I Stand

I have deep respect for the men and women who keep Galveston safe — our firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and city staff who show up every single day to serve this community. They deserve modern tools, fair pay, and leadership that follows through on its promises.

As Mayor, I’ll take a steady, practical approach that supports those who serve and strengthens the partnership between City Hall and the people who protect it:

  • Support our firefighters and first responders. I’ll make sure they have competitive pay, reliable equipment, and the staffing levels they need to respond quickly when seconds count. They’re the ones running toward danger when everyone else is running away — and they deserve leadership that’s in their corner.

  • Honor the people who keep the city running. From public works crews to 911 dispatchers and administrative staff, these employees are the backbone of our daily life. They deserve respect — and the fair raises and working conditions they’ve been promised.

  • Strengthen community safety from the ground up. We’ll work with neighborhood groups, schools, and local organizations to identify and fix safety concerns early — better lighting, cleaner streets, and real engagement between residents and city departments.

  • Prepare for what we can’t predict. Galveston faces unique safety challenges — hurricanes, tourism, major events, and infrastructure demands. I’ll make sure city departments and emergency services have the coordination and resources they need before disaster strikes.

“I don’t want a city where people lock themselves in. I want a city where people walk, talk, and feel connected again. That starts with supporting the people who serve us every day.”

How We Get There

Public safety is bigger than one department — it’s a shared effort between residents, first responders, and City Hall.

As Mayor, I’ll keep communication open and focus resources where they make the biggest difference — not where they make the biggest headlines. I’ll work to rebuild trust inside city government so the people who do the work every day know they’re supported, valued, and heard.

Leadership is about showing up, keeping your word, and making sure every person who serves this city feels proud to do it.
